Facts and Figures

DOOR COUNTY ENERGY ESTIMATES

Door County Annual Energy Consumption is 564,000,000 (KWH) that requires:

OVER 560,000 TONS OF COAL that releases

OVER 600,000 TONS OF CO2 and

5,000 TONS OF SO2, NOX, MERCURY, etc. and

OVER 160,000 TONS OF FLY ASH

ALL EQUIVALENT TO 993,000 BARRELS OF OIL

According to 2006 Wisconsin Energy Statistics[1], last year Wisconsin spent nearly $18.5 billion on fuel sources that originated from out of state. This is an increase of almost $3 billion more than Wisconsin’s spending on out-of-state fuel sources in 2004. Renewable local energy production is one means by which to redirect this trend and instead achieve economic as well as environmental revitalization within Wisconsin.
